Greek Chicken Meatballs

Greek chicken meatballs 🍗🌿 are a tasty treat, mixing lean chicken with classic Greek herbs & spices. Serve them as an appetizer 🍢, a main dish side, or stuffed in a pita or low carb wrap 🥙 for a delicious sandwich. Check out this easy recipe to whip up some Greek chicken meatballs!




Ingredients:


  • For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground chicken

  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried dill)

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • Zest of 1 lemon

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled (optional)

  • Olive oil, for cooking

  • For the Tzatziki Sauce (optional but recommended):

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt

  • 1 cucumber, grated and squeezed to remove moisture

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped

  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with olive oil.

  1. Mix Meatball Ingredients:

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, red onion, garlic, parsley, dill, oregano, lemon zest, salt, pepper, and feta cheese (if using). Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  1. Form Meatballs:

  • Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet.

  1. Bake:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and slightly golden on the outside.

  1. Prepare Tzatziki Sauce (optional):

  • While the meatballs are baking, prepare the tzatziki sauce by combining Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well and adjust seasoning to taste.

  1. Serve:

  • Serve the Greek chicken meatballs hot, accompanied by the tzatziki sauce for dipping. They can also be served with a side of Greek salad, in a pita with veggies, or as part of a mezze platter.
